Dentistry

Routine dental care is an important part of your horse’s health care. Horse teeth erupt continuously throughout their life, which can lead to imbalances in the mouth and sharp points. Dental issues can cause a range of issues for your horse, including

  • Weight loss
  • Problems with the bit/ behavior issues
  • Discomfort while eating
  • Quidding/dropping feed

Our veterinarians use sedation and an oral speculum to complete a thorough oral exam and power float. Sedating horses for this procedure improves safety for the horse, veterinarian, and handler. Sedation also helps to keep them still for the exam to be completed.
